apprenticeship commencement & a wash park picnic

today marks the first day of my very own photography apprenticeship that i am doing this summer.  here's what this looks like.  my work graciously allowed me to flex-out my work week into 4 days.  (read: 10-11 hour days, 4 days a week).  in doing this, i'm able to take time this summer and use it towards getting my feet on the ground and running with all of my photography needs.  i've had a lonnnnng list of things that have needed to fall into place since Making Things Happen 2013 intensive that i attended in march.  while it's taken me a while, i'm so thankful for where i'm at right now and where i am going.  since last march, i've been able to get work approval for 1 day flexed.  with the help of friends and family and months and months of saving, i was finally able to purchase my first, very own iMac for photo-editing and blogging.  i'm ecstatic!

from here on out, i've created a syllabus for reading some recommended literature.  i also am able to meet with one of the local photographers and pick their brain about what else i can be doing to get my feet on the ground and running.  with the help of skillshare, i'm able to take 2 different classes in order to work on my photo-editing and business savviness!  combined, it should be a summer of hard work. but i'm so, so excited to get started.

the weather has been so up-and-down in albany lately.  i've felt like a drowned rat with how much rain we've gotten.  one evening last week, we had a break in the rain so we were able to get outside and have a picnic in wash park with some friends and here are a couple from the evening.
